USBG Austin Treasurer Special Election Candidates
Below are the profile responses for the two candidates for the USBG Austin Treasurer position.
A SurveyMonkey online election form was e-mailed to all USBG Austin members. In order to ensure that only members participate in voting, the survey link will not be posted on the website or Facebook page. If you are a current member and you did not receive a link to vote, please e-mail the council at usbg.atx@gmail.com.
The individual elected will serve until the end of the current term (December 31, 2013).
Description of the Job: The Treasurer shall supervise the collection of funds by any committee to ensure that sound accounting practices are followed. The Treasurer shall be the custodian of the Chapter funds and shall keep an itemized account of all receipts and expenditures. At no time shall Chapter funds be merged with personal funds. The Treasurer or a representative shall have a financial report available at all meetings. The records of the Treasurer shall be available for inspection by the members at all reasonable times, and shall be audited at least once a year. Expenditures shall only be made pursuant to resolutions of the Board Members and shall be supported by invoices; vouchers and/or receipts along with an original check request form. The Treasurer, or in the absence of the Treasurer, the President, or Vice President must sign all checks. The Treasurer shall notify the Board of all checks returned for non-sufficient funds and any fees associated with their collection. The Treasurer will prepare a final Profit & Loss statement, and balance sheet upon the completion of the current fiscal year. The U.S.B.G. Chapter treasurer will be responsible for attending at least 9 out of 12 Council meetings and 9-12 members meetings during the year. The term will last two years.
Specific duties include:
- Attend Board Meetings
- Present financial status report at Board meeting
- Prepare Tax information report with accountant
- Prepare state and federal tax returns
- Provide records and tax information report to President for review
- Process and balance bank statements
- Keep records for payment of members and invoice members yearly for dues
- Invoice sponsors
- Process and payment of invoices

“I would like to focus on increasing are membership numbers by 50% in the next year. This would help bring more financing to the chapter and more national attention. I would also like to recruit more actively at places that need better bartenders like hotels, non-craft bars, beer bars and mid level restaurants.”

TOMORROW! USBG Austin RETOX event – 2pm!
Spring RETOX – Monday, April 8th!
Dulce Vida “Barreled” Event – March 5th – 5pm-11pm
Dulce Vida Tequila has graciously invited the entire member roster from USBG Austin (and their plus 1s) to be their guests at “Barreled” – an inaugural event at Dulce Vida headquarters (11310 Highway 290 West, Austin, TX 78737), on Tuesday, March 5th from 5pm-11pm.
This “invitation only”, fun-filled, true “Austin” experience will feature an impressive slate of live musical performances, put together in conjunction with DV’s neighbor, Collings Guitars. Local bands include Milk Drive, Redd Volkeart and Sons of Fathers.
Guests will be able to enjoy complimentary barrel-aged cocktails featuring the tequilas from Dulce Vida’s portfolio, craft beer from Thirsty Planet and outstanding culinary delights from local food trucks Peached Tortilla, Guac N’ Roll and Dock & Roll Diner. For those on the wagon, Richard’s Rainwater and Moonshine Sweet Tea will also be on deck.
